This past September, the Logans...and Husbae embarked on our first family vacation. We decided to take a cruise because we felt that in doing so, everyone would have enough time to spend with their significant others and all together as a group.
Our adventure began in Baltimore when Justin and I almost missed our flight... yet again!
*One of these days we’ll….HE’LL get it right!* I literally ran pass my family to make it to the gate as they were boarding my group. We flew Southwest Airlines from Baltimore to Fort Lauderdale and then caught a Carnival shuttle to the port of Miami. Using Carnival’s transportation services gave my family peace of mind knowing that we would be safe and wouldn’t have to worry about missing debarkation.
When we finally made it onto the ship, we knew that it was time to party!!!! We were greeted by live singers on the main stage surrounded by guests at the bar. A lituation to say the least haha.
After we downloaded the Carnival Hub App, we split up as a group and went to see our rooms. Check out our balcony room aboard the Carnival Sensation:
Carnival Sensation is one of the smallest ships of their fleet. In our room we had a king size bed, which is actually two twins that they pushed together (still very comfortable though), two closets, and ONE outlet!! I’m so glad that I followed my intuition and purchased a multi outlet charger right before we left. We were able to charge both of our phones and my laptop all at the same time. Very clutch!
We also did not have a mini refrigerator in our room. Those are only placed in the suites and are available upon medical requests. My favorite part of the room was being on the balcony. In the mornings I would sit out there and read my book and during the night time Justin and I would watch the stars while listening to Rick Ross Port of Miami 2. Such a vibe!
Due to Hurricane Dorian our entire itinerary changed. Our original travel plans included visiting Nassau and Half Moon Cay in The Bahamas and Grand Turk. Instead, we visited Grand Turk and Amber Cove, Dominica and added on an additional day at sea. Although we only went to two out of three ports, I am extremely grateful to Carnival for keeping us safe throughout our vacation.
Our time on the ship was definitely well spent. We laughed at a couple of comedy shows, danced in the nightclub, and I won $425 at the casino!
Oddly enough, the only thing that I did not do while on the ship was get in the pool. Carnival Sensation only has one swimming pool, which is for adults and children. In their serenity area, which is 21+, they do have two hot whirlpools. I didn’t get in those either lol. I did finally splash around in the ocean in Grand Turk. The sand there was soooo soft! However, don’t be fooled. The rocks in the ocean will tear your feet up!!!!
We did go on two excursions, ATV riding in Grand Turk and paddle boat sailing in Amber Cove. We loved our ATV tour guides. We learned so much abut the island. This was also my mom’s first ATV ride. I’m so glad that I was able to share this experience with her!
There are several places to eat aboard Carnival cruise. You can choose from over four restaurants and a buffet on the Lido deck, enjoy tacos at Blue Iguana Cantina, or indulge in their “give you the itis” SeaDay Brunch. Justin and I ate here twice….and tore that food up!!! I highly recommend trying out their brunch if you’re ever on the Carnival Sensation.
Overall, we had a successful first family vacation thanks to Carnival. Our cruise director Deon did an AMAZZZINNGGGG job at keeping the party alive on Sensation! Can’t wait until my next adventure at sea with Carnival!
