Why Self- Care Is So Important + 3 Tips For Staying Centered

Self Care isn’t just a cool thing to do on Sundays. It has truly become a lifestyle for so many millennials across the country.

Self care is a term that means, well, basically, taking care of yourself lol. Taking time to focus on your mental and physical health.

Gettin ya sh*t together…

Whether it’s getting a massage, journaling, or going for a walk in the park, making time to honor, respect, and renew our bodies is a “trend” that I think is here to stay!

Last year, I started to make my mental and spiritual health a priority in my life. I adopted new behaviors and practices that brought me peace and kept me grounded and centered.

Self care is vital to our health because it keeps us living....it keeps us alive! Intentionally putting your well being first is how you take control of your life.

If you’re ready to take the first step towards freedom, check out these 3 self care habits below!

Make Time For Yourself

Whether it's an entire day or a few hours, get into a habit of making time for yourself. There are 24 hours in a day. You should be able to dedicate AT LEAST one of those hours to yourself. Whether it’s five minutes in the morning watching the sun glare through your curtains, going for a 10 minute walk alone during your lunch break, or kicking off your shoes and sitting on the couch for 30 minutes after coming home from work, there are endless opportunities for you to “self care” throughout the day. Don't become one of those people who say that they don't "have time"...MAKE TIME.

Set Boundaries

Setting boundaries is how you respect yourself and show others how to respect you. They create limitations for where you allow other people, places, and things to consume your energy. The boundaries that you create are there to protect and preserve you, not to offend others.

Get Quiet and Be Still

Whether it’s meditation or prayer, set time to get quiet with yourself. Eliminate any and all distractions. That includes turning off your electronics (phones, tv, laptop, etc), closing your door, and focusing on your breathing. Clear your mind from any forced thoughts and allow messages to flow to you naturally.

Trust me, the quieter you become, the more you hear.
